ChatGPT rival, Bard by Google is set for Testing
ChatGPT rival Bard, has been Launched by Google.
On the 30th of November 2022, OpenAI an AI research organisation launched the first prototype of a chatbot called ChatGPT. ChatGPT, a super intelligent content generating AI chatbot, took just 5 days to get over a million users.
Its launch generated traction to the website as well as many restrictions and bans from several platforms online.
To many it was a saviour, to others it was a threat, one of those platforms that saw it as a challenge was Google. Since many bloggers started generating content with ChatGPT and uploading to their websites, Google immediately made their ranking algorithm stricter to punish those whose blogs were generated from ChatGPT or any other content generating AI.
It didn't stop there, controversies had it that ChatGPT was a direct rival to Google, regardless of if it's actually very accurate or not, the fact remains that ChatGPT has caused problems for Google one way or the other.
With regard to this, Google has launched its own chatbot, Bard. This should not be confused with the popular Google Assistant which is the primary assistant for Google's Android phone users and an equivalent of Apple's Siri.
Bard was released on the 7th of February 2023, though the official statement by Google's CEO published on Google's official blog was made on the 6th of February 2023.
According to what Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai wrote on the release of Bard to testers, he said;
'It’s a really exciting time to be working on these technologies as we translate deep research and breakthroughs into products that truly help people. That’s the journey we’ve been on with large language models. Two years ago we unveiled next-generation language and conversation capabilities powered by our Language Model for Dialogue Applications (or LaMDA for short).
We’ve been working on an experimental conversational AI service, powered by LaMDA, that we’re calling Bard. And today, we’re taking another step forward by opening it up to trusted testers ahead of making it more widely available to the public in the coming weeks.
Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the world’s knowledge with the power, intelligence and creativity of our large language models. It draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses. Bard can be an outlet for creativity, and a launchpad for curiosity, helping you to explain new discoveries from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to a 9-year-old, or learn more about the best strikers in football right now, and then get drills to build your skills'.
Features of Bard.
• Bard is an interactive chatbot that helps users of Google search to answer their search query better and in simpler terms.
• It has the ability to process multiple and complex information and break it down for the ordinary user.
• Ability to provide more accurate information in search results.
Bear in mind that these features will certainly be updated with time as Bard is currently being tested by a team of trusted testers.
